Halloween Wellness Weekend: Yoga, Breathwork & Celebration in Spain

The retreat takes place in a private villa in Benissa, a hilltop town in Alicante province with coastline linking Moraira and Calp. It's run by Vanessa, a yoga teacher with 15 years of experience and over 700 hours of training, and Rafa, a personal trainer, yoga teacher, and Animal Flow instructor. Together they've built a program that balances morning energy with evening calm, and throws in a few playful surprises.

A typical day starts at 8am with herbal tea and quiet time, followed by a 75-minute breath-led vinyasa flow. Mornings are themed — hip openers, backbends, strength, or surrender — and always include pranayama and seated meditation. After a big brunch, afternoons alternate between yoga philosophy talks, journaling prompts, and asana labs where you break down inversions or binds. Evenings wind down with yin, slow flow, or a sound journey, and dinner is communal.

The Halloween twist turns the usual retreat structure on its head. Saturday night becomes a celebration: a glow-in-the-dark special flow, the signature cake toss, games, and awards for best costume. It's all sober and drug-free, so the party energy comes from the group and the music.

The villa has a pool, sauna, and yoga deck, and the surrounding area is good for hiking, cycling, and swimming. It's a short trip from Alicante airport by bus, with a free pickup from Calpe. The whole experience is designed to feel less like a rigid retreat and more like a wellness-focused house gathering.
