Highland Vietnam Cycling & Trekking Adventure Week

Highland Vietnam Cycling & Trekking Adventure Week

Vietnam · 8 days · From USD 853

The trip opens in Hanoi, where you arrive and get dropped at your hotel with the rest of the day free. If you want to hit the ground running, there's an optional night food tour on scooter — otherwise, rest up before an early start the next morning.

Day two is the first big activity day: a three-hour drive to Pu Luong Nature Reserve, then a 10km trek through Kho Muong village and the reserve's largest cave. The trail follows streams and crosses mountains to reach Bang village, where you'll see terraced rice fields and traditional houses tucked into the valley. You stay overnight in Pu Luong, with an optional cooking class in the evening.

The following morning brings bamboo rafting — you paddle upstream with locals on a traditional raft, then complete a 2km trek through ethnic villages before transferring back to Hanoi. That evening is free to explore the city's nightlife on your own.

From Hanoi, a morning transfer takes you north to Sapa, arriving around midday. The afternoon is a gentle introduction: a leisurely walking trip to Silver Waterfall and Tram Ton Pass (Vietnam's highest mountain pass), with views of Fansipan and the Hoang Lien Son range. You might stop at O Quy Ho, a hillside farm growing vegetables, flowers, and medicinal plants that keeps this corner of Sapa green year-round.

Days five and six are the cycling days. You check out of your Sapa hotel (luggage goes by vehicle) and ride downhill through Muong Hoa Valley, stopping for lunch in a traditional Tay house in Thanh Phu. The afternoon route climbs toward Sin Chai, a Red Dao village where you'll sleep in a local house rather than a hotel. The next day continues through smaller villages — you can stop at a school to give children pens or books — and into Ban Ho Valley for lunch and a river swim. By mid-afternoon you're back in Sapa for a final night.

Day seven is a transfer day (Sapa to Hanoi, arriving early afternoon), and day eight wraps up with breakfast, free time, and an airport drop-off.

The format is a mix of group and private touring. Airport transfers, accommodation, and some activities are private, while day tours (like the Pu Luong trek) are small-group with up to 12 people. The cycling is fully private — just you and your guide.
