Himalayan Trekking and Yoga Adventure to Annapurna Base Camp

Himalayan Trekking and Yoga Adventure to Annapurna Base Camp

Nepal · 10 days · From USD 827

The trip begins in Kathmandu, where you settle into a tourist-class hotel and get a briefing. The next day you take a tourist bus for the seven-hour ride to Pokhara, a lakeside town with mountain views. From Pokhara, a jeep takes you to Jhinu, where the trek starts. The first day's walk is a short one to Chhomrong, a village perched on a ridge with direct views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (the Fishtail peak). From Chhomrong you descend to the river and follow the Modi Khola valley, gaining altitude each day as the forest thins. Days four through six are the steepest, climbing from Dovan to Deurali and then to the base camp itself, passing through Machhapuchhre Base Camp. You spend a night at the foot of the amphitheater of peaks before retracing your steps down to Bamboo, then Jhinu, where a jeep takes you back to Pokhara. A final bus ride returns you to Kathmandu for a last night before departure. Throughout, Sunil leads morning yoga—often a gentle hatha sequence to wake up the body—and evening meditation, usually focused on breath, to settle after a long day of walking. He also points out local plants, tells stories about the villages, and adjusts the pace to whoever's in the group. The teahouse lodges along the trail are basic but clean, with shared bathrooms and simple rooms, which is what you want in the mountains. It's not a luxury holiday; it's an adventure with structure and intention.
