Rishikesh · 7 days · From USD 381
The retreat at Shivoham Yoga School in Rishikesh is built around the idea of giving your body and mind a proper clean-out. Every day you'll do a mix of yoga, breathwork, and meditation, but the real focus is the Ayurvedic component. You'll get a daily one-hour treatment—things like warm oil Abhyanga massage—tailored to your dosha, which is a genuinely personal touch you don't find at every yoga retreat. They also run three different juices each day (green, red, and fruit) that target different things, so you're not just drinking the same smoothie on repeat.
Food is vegetarian and centered on millet, which is a nice change from the usual rice-and-curry setup. The cooking class one afternoon lets you take some of that knowledge home with you. The daily schedule leaves room for rest, so it never feels like a bootcamp. You might be doing yoga by the Ganges one morning and then have the whole afternoon free to read, wander into town, or just sleep.
The teaching is solid across the board. Pranjal Ji, one of the lead instructors, has been teaching for a decade and trained under some well-known teachers in Mysore and Rishikesh. He's a proper nerd about yoga philosophy and can explain the subtle stuff in plain language, which matters if you're new to it. The other teachers—Vijay, Shubham, and Shree—cover everything from Hatha yoga to meditation, so you get a range of styles and perspectives. It's not one person lecturing you for seven days; it's a team with different strengths balancing each other out.
