Home › Retreats › Himalayan Yoga Immersion Retreat with Daily Pranayama and Sound Healing
Nepal · 5 days · From USD 272
The retreat is based at the Annapurna Eco Village Resort, a property with a big garden and a newly built yoga hall designed for practice. Rooms are private with attached bathrooms and queen-sized beds, and every one looks out toward the mountains. The food is entirely vegetarian and vegan, with produce sourced from local farms—simple, fresh meals that fuel the practice.
Each day follows a rhythm that combines practice with local life. The retreat includes a local farm and village tour on the first day, giving you a sense of how people live here. A jungle hike on the second day takes you through the surrounding forest. The third day features an Ayurvedic cooking class where you'll learn to prepare local dishes. A yoga philosophy session and a specialized asana workshop—your choice of hip opening, backbending, or arm balance—round out the later days. The retreat also includes guided meditation, mantra meditation, yoga nidra, and a sound bowl healing session, all led with attention to individual needs.
Madan, the lead teacher, has been practicing yoga since childhood, influenced heavily by his grandfather, who introduced him to yoga philosophy and healing techniques. He trained for 500 hours in India in 2014 and has since taught across India and Nepal. His teaching style is attentive and adaptive, offering variations to suit each student's level and needs. His approach combines asana with pranayama, meditation, and yoga nidra, often with a therapeutic intent.
The setting is a key part of the experience. Astam is a working village, not a tourist resort, and that authenticity matters. You're surrounded by terraced fields, local families going about their day, and the constant presence of the Annapurna range. It's the sort of place where the practice isn't just something you do on the mat—it's reflected in the pace of life around you. This retreat is available year-round, each season offering its own view of the mountains.
