Himalayan Yoga & Trekking Adventure Through Langtang Valley

Himalayan Yoga & Trekking Adventure Through Langtang Valley

Nepal · 10 days · From USD 850

The Langtang Valley sits about 50 kilometres north of Kathmandu, right up against the Tibetan border. It's sometimes called the 'valley of glaciers' — a wide, open valley floor surrounded by peaks over 7,000 metres, with the Langtang Lirung (7,227m) dominating the skyline. The national park is home to red pandas, Himalayan black bears, and snow leopards, though you're more likely to see yaks and marmots.

The trek itself covers roughly 55 kilometres over six hiking days. Day one is a long drive from Kathmandu to the trailhead at Syabrubesi — about seven hours on local roads along the Trishuli River. From there, you climb steadily: Lama Hotel on day one (2,500m), Langtang Village on day two (3,440m), and Kyanjin Gompa on day three (3,875m). The altitude gain is significant, so the mid-trek rest day is important for acclimatisation.

Yoga sessions happen at teahouse stops — typically a morning class before breakfast and an evening session after the day's walking. The focus is practical: stretching tight calves and hip flexors, breathing exercises that help at altitude, and meditation to wind down after hours on the trail. You won't find a polished yoga shala, but you will find a cleared space with mountain views that no studio can match.

Meals are local Nepali food: dal bhat (lentils, rice, vegetables), momos, noodle soups, and plenty of hot tea. Everything is cooked fresh at each teahouse. The lodges are basic — shared bathrooms, no showers at the higher stops, electricity from solar panels — but warm and welcoming. This is how trekking works in Nepal: simple, genuine, and focused on the mountains.

The descent retraces your steps, which means you get different light on the same views and a chance to notice things you missed on the way up. By day eight you're back in Syabrubesi, then a drive back to Kathmandu for your final night before departure.
