Home › Retreats › HYROX Cruise: 4-Night Mediterranean Fitness Camp at Sea
Barcelona · 4 days
The schedule runs on training, food and recovery, with the Mediterranean as the backdrop. You'll take part in HYROX-style workouts and dynamic classes led by coaches and athletes from the HYROX circuit, with nutrition built to support the training load rather than a generic cruise buffet. There are panel talks where you can ask questions directly, and recovery is treated as part of the programme, not an afterthought.
What separates this from a normal fitness retreat is the ship. The entire vessel is chartered for the event, so the gym, the decks and the dining rooms are all part of the same programme. You're not fitting sessions around other passengers' schedules — the timetable is the ship's timetable. The route from Palma to Marseille to Barcelona and back means two full port days where you can get off and explore on foot, then return to a ship that's still set up for training.
The HYROX Experiences team handles the itinerary, operations and on-board running of the trip themselves. That matters because the sessions, the race format and the coaching lineup are all built by people inside the sport rather than licensed out. Expect the same standard of programming you'd get at a HYROX event, but spread over four nights with time to eat, sleep and actually recover between sessions.
The instructor and coaching lineup is drawn from HYROX's own athlete and coach pool. Rather than a single lead instructor, you get a rotating group of people who compete in and coach the sport regularly, including names from the elite side of the HYROX circuit. Panel talks and classes are run by these same coaches, so the people teaching you are the people you're watching in the race format.
On the water, the ship covers Palma de Mallorca to Marseille to Barcelona and back to Palma. Both port stops give you a half-day or more ashore — Marseille's Vieux-Port and Barcelona's Gothic Quarter and waterfront are all reachable without a tour. The rest of the time the ship is at sea, which is when most of the training blocks and classes happen. The Mediterranean in late October is mild, so deck sessions are usually comfortable rather than a battle with the heat.
