HYROX & Hybrid Race Training Camp in Chiang Mai, Thailand

HYROX & Hybrid Race Training Camp in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai · 7 days · From USD 1150

A typical day starts early with a run — the roads around the gym cut through rice fields with mountains on the horizon, which is why several guests mention the morning runs specifically. Then it's into the first of two 1.5-hour private sessions with your coach. Mornings tend to lean towards engine work and running intervals; afternoons are more strength-biased, with sled work, SkiErg, rower, sandbags, wall balls and kettlebells. The mix depends on what you're training for — if you've got a HYROX race coming up, Pat and Ton will build the week around that; if you just want to get fitter, they'll adjust the loads accordingly.

Between sessions you eat. Three meals a day are included and portion sizes are generous — one guest's review notes "more than enough food" — plus a protein shake daily. There's a sports massage every day, which matters when you're doing three hours of training, and ice baths on alternate days for recovery. There's also a swimming pool on site for easy movement between sessions. Race strategy sessions and nutrition guidance are part of the package, so you're not just training hard, you're working out pacing, fuelling and how to actually execute on the day.

The gym itself has an air-conditioned weight room, which makes a real difference in Chiang Mai's heat, plus a covered pickleball court and a swimming pool. It's a clean, well-organised facility and the staff are notably welcoming — a lot of the reviews mention feeling at home from day one, even for people who've never set foot in a gym like this before. The coaches adjust to different levels within the same group; one reviewer brought two teenage sons of different abilities and the trainers tailored each session.

What separates this from a generic fitness holiday is that the coaches compete. Pat is from the UK, has been running the bootcamp programme at Bangarang, and is now competing at HYROX Bangkok and Hong Kong — he's also a certified nutrition and strength & conditioning trainer. Ton has a sports science degree, has been with Bangarang over 10 years, is a certified Muay Thai trainer and HYROX Foundation certified, and is known for pushing people hard while keeping it enjoyable. Fourteen and 28-day options are available if a week isn't enough, and you can stay anywhere from 3 days to 4 weeks.

Location-wise, you're in the Chiang Mai countryside, not in the city centre. It's quiet, green and surrounded by farmland, about 30 minutes from the Mae Sa mountain area. The trade-off is peace and good running routes over nightlife — most people come here to train, eat and sleep well, and that's exactly what the setup supports.
