Home › Retreats › HYROX Race Prep Camp in Tenerife: Train for the Canary Islands' First HYROX
Tenerife · 8 days
The camp is run as an official HYROX Race-Prep Training Camp with a team of HYROX professionals, led by ultra runner Max Löw. Coaching covers technique, transitions, pacing, strength and endurance, and the programme is written to work whether you're doing your first HYROX or chasing a PB. You train at Tenerife Top Training, an outdoor performance centre in Costa Adeje used by professional athletes, with a running track, Olympic pool and a well-equipped gym. Three of the days are based there, and the rest of the week moves between the beach at Playa la Pinta, a stadium and track session, CrossFit 27 about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, and Teide National Park for the altitude run.
A typical day: breakfast at the hotel buffet, transfer to the training venue, a morning block, back to the hotel for free time, then an evening block and dinner. On the busiest days you're looking at up to four coaching sessions, but the programme alternates loading with recovery — the pool WOD on Wednesday is followed by sauna, steam bath and the heated pool, and mobility and sunset yoga are on the schedule. Friday's sessions taper ahead of the race weekend.
The altitude run in Teide National Park is the standout session of the week. It's a guided run at roughly 2,200 m, about a 45-minute drive from the resort, focused on endurance and running form in thin air. You also get a race-prep coaching block on Thursday covering strategy and the mental side of race day — useful whether or not you're lining up on Saturday.
What separates this from a generic fitness holiday is the race weekend itself. Tenerife's first HYROX takes place in Santa Cruz on 5 and 6 September 2026, and the camp runs the week immediately before it, so the whole programme points at one event. Race entry is not included and must be bought separately, but it's optional — if you're not racing, the coaches run a HYROX simulation workout instead. Transfers to and from Santa Cruz are included on both race days.
The hotel, Princess Inspire Tenerife, is a modern 4-star property in Costa Adeje with pool-view rooms, a wellness area, a fitness centre and reserved sun loungers. Half board is included — breakfast and dinner buffets with high-protein options and local produce. The camp is capped at 24 participants and is popular with solo travellers, though couples, friends and small groups all fit comfortably.
Coaching comes from a team of HYROX athletes and elite coaches, with Max Löw — an ultra runner and pro athlete — involved across the week's sessions. That means personal technique feedback rather than a one-size-fits-all class. There's also dedicated support before, during and after the camp for logistics like airport transfers and any add-ons you book.
