Intermediate Maldives Surf Coaching Boat Trip

The trip runs for 10 days, but the first and last are travel days. You fly into Male (MLE), get transferred to the boat, and settle in. The next eight days are full surf days. A typical day starts with breakfast around 6:00 or 6:30, then the first boat trip to a break. You'll surf for 2-3 hours in the morning, come back for lunch, then head out again in the afternoon for another 2-3 hours. Evenings are for video review, dinner, and a few drinks on the sundeck.

The coaching is what separates this from a standard surf charter. You get personalized feedback based on video footage of your own surfing, plus technical workshops on things like cutbacks, bottom turns, and generating speed. The coaches focus on levels 2.1 and 2.2, meaning you can already turn and are working on more advanced maneuvers. You'll also get a year of access to their online coaching platform to keep progressing after the trip.

The boat itself is a large, custom-designed charter with private, air-conditioned rooms that have en-suite bathrooms. There's a lounge with sofas and armchairs, a bar, a sundeck, and indoor and outdoor dining areas. It's comfortable but not luxurious; the focus is on the surfing, not the amenities.

The Maldives is chosen because of the wave quality. The breaks are mostly right-handers, long and playful, perfect for intermediates looking to improve. Since the boat can move, you're not stuck at one spot if the conditions aren't right. The guides know which breaks work best with which swell and wind, and they'll adjust the itinerary daily. The local knowledge is a big part of why people get so many good waves here.
