Jungle's Edge Nosara: Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai & Surf All-Inclusive Camp

Costa Rica · 7 days · From EUR 2100

Jungle's Edge is a purpose-built retreat centre on the edge of the jungle in Nosara, on Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula. The property includes a dojo, a restaurant, guest suites, a cold plunge and yoga space, all within a few minutes of Playa Guiones — one of the most consistent surf breaks in the country. Guests arrive for a set all-inclusive package and live on site for the duration.

Daily life revolves around training. A typical day opens with yoga or a mobility session, then a Muay Thai or boxing class in the morning, lunch at the restaurant, and Jiu-Jitsu in the afternoon or early evening. Surf sessions get slotted in around the tide, usually in the morning or late afternoon. There's open mat time for anyone who wants extra rounds, and the cold plunge is in constant use between blocks. Evenings are quiet — dinner at the restaurant, then early nights, because the next morning starts early.

The training is led by the camp's resident coaching team. Jiu-Jitsu classes cover gi and no-gi depending on the group, with drilling and live rounds. Muay Thai sessions focus on pad work, clinch and bag rounds, and boxing sessions cover footwork, combinations and conditioning. Sessions are scaled — complete beginners are paired with more experienced guests or given separate technical work, and experienced fighters get harder rounds. Yoga classes are taught separately and are aimed at fighters: hip openers, shoulder work, hamstring lengthening and breathing.

Surfing is built into the packages as an optional track. Playa Guiones is a beach break that works for most levels, with long, rolling waves on the inside and steeper sections further out. Boards and instruction are provided as part of the package, so you don't need to bring your own gear or arrange lessons separately. If you'd rather stay on the mat, you can trade surf time for extra training.

What makes this different from a lot of martial arts camps is that everything is on one property. You walk from your suite to the dojo, from the dojo to the restaurant, from the restaurant to the beach. There's no van, no logistics, no splitting the group between a hotel and a gym. The trade-off is that Nosara is a small beach town, not a city — nights are quiet, there's no nightlife circuit, and the pace is set by training times and the tide. Guests who want that rhythm tend to return; the reviews are full of people who came with family or solo and booked a second trip before leaving.
