California · 6 days · From USD 1849
The Mend Yourself Like a Kintsugi retreat is built around a simple, powerful metaphor: that our cracks and breaks can be filled with gold rather than hidden. Each day, you'll work with professional artists and therapists, learning the actual craft of Kintsugi—using gold resin to repair broken pottery—while journaling and reflecting on how those principles apply to your own life. It's a practical, hands-on approach to emotional healing.
The retreat hosts a small group of participants (usually six to twelve), which means you get plenty of individual attention. The daily schedule mixes scheduled sessions with free time to relax or explore Todos Santos. You'll have at least one afternoon off to wander the town's colonial streets, visit art galleries, or simply relax by the pool at the hotel's beach club.
The facilitators include Elisa Salas, an award-winning art therapist; a published poet who leads writing workshops; a Mexica ceremonialist who guides traditional fire rituals; and a human development coach. This team brings a range of expertise to the retreat, covering emotional, creative, and spiritual aspects of healing. You don't need any art experience—just a willingness to participate.
Located between the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and the Pacific, Todos Santos is a Mexican 'Pueblo Mágico' known for its art scene and natural beauty. The hotel is a restored 19th-century red brick mansion in the town center, so you can easily walk to restaurants and shops. With the ocean nearby and desert skies free of light pollution, the environment is built for reflection and calm.
