Home › Retreats › Kitesurf & Yoga Camp: Cape Verde Watersports Weeks
Europe · 8 days · From EUR 890
The camp sits on Sal, the flattest of the Cape Verde islands, where the trade winds blow steadily from roughly November through to late spring and the water stays warm year-round. That combination is why kitesurfers keep coming back: you can ride in boardshorts, the lagoon is forgiving for beginners, and there's enough space out on the water for advanced riders to work on jumps, transitions and wave riding without dodging a crowd.
Days are built around the wind, not a fixed timetable. Mornings usually start with yoga before the wind fills in, then breakfast, then a kite briefing and a session — either in the lagoon for those learning, or further out for riders working on their own thing. Instructors run the school side of things and give coaching in small groups or one-to-one. When the wind drops or you want a break, there's SUP and surf on the schedule, and the school has the kit for both.
What separates this from a standard kite school holiday is that the equipment, coaching, yoga and lodging all sit in one place. Nobody is driving you to a different beach each day, and you're not renting gear separately. The school has been operating on the island for years and the instructors are on the water daily, so they know which spot is working and when.
The camp is deliberately social rather than polished. You eat with the group, you ride with the group, and if you've come alone you'll know people by day two. It suits people who want to actually improve at kitesurfing on a trip rather than squeeze in one lesson between other activities.
Beyond the water, Sal is dry, breezy and quiet — salt pans, a few beach bars, turtles nesting on some beaches at the right time of year, and warm evenings. Most people don't leave the camp much, and that's the point.
