Home › Retreats › Kriya, Kundalini & Bhakti Yoga Training: 14-Day Himalayan Lineage Intensive in Colombia
Colombia · 14 days · From EUR 1600
The programme is split between practical technique and the more subtle sides of the Himalayan tradition. You'll learn kriya sequences in detail — breath ratios, bandhas, the mechanics of Kapalabhati and other cleansing practices — alongside the philosophy that explains why they're done in a particular order. Tantra here is taught in its classical, non-sexual sense: working with energy, mantra and ritual rather than the popular Western reading of the word. Bhakti covers devotional practice, including kirtan and harmonium accompaniment.
A typical morning starts with sadhana around 06:00 — a mix of asana, pranayama and meditation — followed by breakfast. Mid-morning and afternoon blocks are teaching sessions, either practical (learning to lead a kriya sequence, perfecting your own practice) or theoretical (scripture, lineage history, the structure of tantric ritual). Evenings often involve ceremony: fire practice, chanting, or group ritual. There are rest periods built into the day and free time most afternoons.
What separates this from a generic 100-hour training is the lineage framing and the group size. Kriya Kundalini taught in the Himalayan style is a specific transmission — it depends on a teacher who received it in person and can correct your technique across two weeks. With a maximum of 16 people, that correction actually happens. Participants regularly note that several people in their group had trained with Ancestral before and came back for more.
Caro and Marco run the trainings together and are the primary teachers, occasionally joined by guest teachers who bring specific expertise (harmonium, philosophy, ayurveda). The setting is a mango forest property in Anapoima, warm during the day and comfortable at night, with home-cooked food prepared on site. It's a working sanctuary rather than a resort, and the emphasis is on the practice.
Ancestral Retreats has run yoga teacher trainings and retreats in Colombia since 2022 and was listed in a roundup of the 15 best yoga teacher trainings in the world. They also run 200-hour trainings at Lake Chivor in the Andes and on a private beach at Palomino, plus ayahuasca and silent retreats. The 100-hour Kriya training is the most technically focused of the programmes.
