Home › Retreats › Learn to Lead Sound Baths: 9-Day Sound Healing Teacher Training in the Himalayan Foothills
Rishikesh · 9 days · From USD 600
The training is split into three levels, which together make up the 50 hours. Level 1 covers the foundations: what sound and vibration are physically, how singing bowls are made and how to choose one, and basic playing technique. Level 2 moves into applied work, including chakra balancing, aura cleansing, and using sound for mental and physical therapy. Level 3 covers the more advanced material: brain wave theory, mantra therapy, beej (seed) mantras, and full moon sound healing sessions.
A typical day mixes theory with a lot of playing. You'll spend real time with your hands on bowls, bells and other instruments. You'll practise on classmates, and they'll practise on you. That's the part that builds confidence, because you find out quickly what a session feels like from the mat as well as from behind the bowls.
The course is different from a sound bath retreat because it's aimed at people who want to offer this work themselves. There's specific guidance on how to structure and run a professional sound bath for a group, and how to run a private one-on-one session. If you already teach yoga or do bodywork, this gives you a skill to add. If you're new to it, it's a full grounding from scratch.
The Damini Sargam International Academy runs a range of sound and energy healing trainings. These include a shorter 6-day, 30-hour course, longer 100-hour programmes (one combined with Ayurveda) and a 21-day multi-modality training. This 50-hour course sits in the middle. It's long enough to cover all three levels properly, but short enough to fit into a little over a week.
The academy is in the green foothills of the Himalaya, in a village with no cars. It's roughly a 10-minute walk to Rishikesh, which is full of yoga schools, ashrams, cafés and ghats along the Ganges. You can easily walk into town in your free time for a meal, the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony at the riverside, or a look around the markets.
The course runs over nine days and eight nights. You can book it with a private room at the academy, with or without air conditioning, or as a course-only package if you'd rather sort out your own place to stay in Rishikesh.
