Luxury Fitness Adventure Retreats in Europe, the Tropics and Beyond

Dominican Republic · 7 days · From EUR 3390

A typical day starts around 7am. You'll do a 60-90 minute session — circuit training, strength work with kettlebells and bodyweight, or a boxing pad session — either in the villa garden, on the beach, or somewhere scenic nearby. Breakfast is a big spread back at the villa: eggs, fruit, yogurt, coffee, whatever the chef has put together that morning. If it's a two-session day you'll train again before lunch, sometimes a run or a mobility session, sometimes a second strength block. On other days the morning slot is replaced by something outdoorsier — a hike up to a viewpoint, a surf lesson at a local break, or a long coastal walk to a swimming spot.

Afternoons are deliberately left open. Lunch is served at the villa most days, and then you're free until dinner. That might mean an hour in the pool, a walk to the nearest village, or nothing at all. On at least one day of every trip there's a bigger excursion — a private boat charter to a secluded beach, a kayaking trip, a visit to ruins or cenotes, depending on the destination. These aren't optional extras you pay for on the ground; they're built into the week.

Dinner is at the villa, cooked by a chef who travels with the group. The food is designed to be healthy without being austere — grilled fish or chicken, big vegetable dishes, salads, sometimes pasta or rice, and dessert a couple of nights. Meals are farm-to-table where the destination supports it (particularly in Ibiza and Comporta).

The workouts are led by the operators themselves and a small team of instructors who travel with each trip. Sessions are scaled — if you can't do a full press-up you'll do them on your knees, and if you're fitter than average you'll be given heavier weights. The mix across the week is roughly half strength and conditioning, a quarter cardio (runs, hikes, circuits), and the rest yoga, mobility and boxing. There's usually one rest afternoon where no training is scheduled at all.

What separates this from a standard fitness holiday is the villa. These aren't hotel rooms — they're private houses with pools, sometimes clifftop positions (Zakynthos, Santa Teresa), sometimes jungle settings (Tulum, Sri Lanka), sometimes beachfront (the Dominican Republic). Each group has the run of the place, which is why people end up eating every meal together and actually getting to know each other. Accommodation is included in the price, along with all meals, all training, all excursions, and airport transfers.
