Home › Retreats › Luxury Fitness & Yoga Retreat in Kodaikanal, India — Coach-Led Residential Transformation
India · 7 days
Kodaikanal sits at around 2,000 m in the Palani Hills, which is why the cardio happens early — mornings are cool and the air is thin enough to make a difference. The retreat is built around two coaches who are on the floor with you, not running a group of 30 from a whiteboard. Prahlladh handles strength programming and nutrition; Khushi runs the yoga, breathwork and recovery work. Every guest gets personal attention on technique and on what they're eating.
A weekday goes like this: 6:30 am wake-up, 7:00 am cardio, 8:30 am breakfast, 10:30 am fruit and protein, 11:45 am Hatha yoga or strength training depending on the day, 1:15 pm lunch. The afternoon brings a pre-workout oil at 4:00 pm for most days and a second session at 4:45 pm — strength training on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Yin yoga on Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesday swaps the pre-workout oil for an acai protein smoothie, and Wednesday dinner is a cheat meal rather than the standard dinner. Saturday and Sunday follow a lighter pattern: Saturday has fruit and protein in the afternoon plus Yin yoga, and Sunday is a rest day with a late wake-up and intermittent fasting until lunch. Thursday also starts late with fasting until lunch, then strength training in the afternoon.
What separates this from a generic fitness holiday is that the coaching is one-to-one in practice even inside a group — the testimonials repeatedly name both coaches by name and describe feeling looked after rather than processed. One guest wrote that in 21 days they got stronger in the gym and more flexible in yoga; another described coming with children aged 10 and 12 who tried serious exercise and monitored food for the first time and enjoyed it. A third called it a "comprehensive educational program" rather than just a camp — there's an education component around food and training that guests describe carrying home with them.
The food is cooked on site and the schedule is built around it — breakfast, lunch, dinner, plus mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks timed to training. The cooking is a named part of the experience in guest reviews ("a culinary adventure" is how one put it). The full program is also described as blended with wellness therapies alongside the training.
Kodaikanal itself does a lot of the work. It's a hill station with pine forests, a lake, viewpoints and walking trails, and the retreat markets the mountain setting as part of the package — the "serenity of mountain living" is referenced directly alongside the training. It's not a beach resort; it's a cool-climate hill town where you train hard and then eat and sleep well.
