Home › Retreats › Luxury Muay Thai & Surf Training Camps with Pro Fighter Sean Fagan — Costa Rica, Thailand, Morocco & New York
Costa Rica · 7 days
Sean Fagan is the through-line here. He started Muay Thai under JJ Russo at Stockade Muay Thai in Kingston, NY, after a boxing career, then racked up 30-plus pro and amateur fights, competed on Lion Fight, appeared on national Thai TV, won two amateur championships (one with a broken arm) and took a title at Madison Square Garden. He retired from competing and went full-time into coaching. His YouTube channel and Muay Thai Guy brand have reached millions of viewers, and these vacations are how he gets that instruction in front of a room of real students for a week at a time.
The four trips differ a lot in length and setting. The New Paltz weekend is the short one — two nights, fly into NYC, drive 90 minutes upstate, train with Sean at his home gym, stay in a private studio on his property. You get two private lessons plus one group session at Gambit Fighting, hikes at River to Ridge and Mohonk, brunch and dinners at local spots, and all ground transport included. It's built for people who can't take a week off.
Costa Rica is the all-inclusive luxury option. Seven nights at Jungle's Edge Resort in Nosara, an eco-friendly property at the edge of the jungle with a saltwater infinity pool that's been ranked one of the ten coolest in the world. Two Muay Thai sessions a day with pros, daily morning yoga with a pro instructor, open BJJ, three meals a day plus a post-workout tropical smoothie, and your choice of a surf lesson or a full-body massage. Then waterfall hikes, beach bonfires, sunset watch parties and group excursions.
Thailand is the flagship at eleven nights. You stay at FitKoh in Ban Tai on Koh Samui and train where the sport was born. Ten training days, two live stadium fight nights, combat strength work and kettlebells on the beach, ice baths, breathwork, yoga and mobility, plus a sunset boat trip, a waterfall hike and Songkran on Chaweng Beach Road. The Morocco trip is newer — seven days, boutique stone hotel on the Atlantic, Muay Thai and surf in the morning, yoga at sunset, oceanside partner drills and light sparring, guided excursions, and tagine dinners between visits to souks and medinas.
Sessions run about 90 minutes each, usually one or two a day. What separates these from a standard fight camp is the rest of the schedule — the trips are deliberately built so the non-training hours are worth having. Meals are chef-prepared across the trips, post-workout smoothies show up in Costa Rica, and the accommodation ranges from oceanfront villas to jungle bungalows to Sean's private Hudson Valley studio. Group sizes vary by trip: 1–2 in New Paltz, 15–30 in Costa Rica and Thailand, 10–15 in Morocco.
