Luxury Muay Thai Training Retreats with Pro Fighter Sean Fagan — Costa Rica, Thailand, Morocco & New York

Costa Rica · 7 days · From EUR 1560

A typical day depends on which trip you pick, but the shape is consistent. Morning Muay Thai comes first, usually after coffee and something light. On the Costa Rica retreat that's a session with Sean or one of the pro team, followed by a yoga class led by a professional instructor. Thailand fills the morning at FitKoh with technique and pad work, then adds beach kettlebell and combat strength sessions in the afternoon, with yoga, breathwork and mobility or ice baths to finish. Morocco runs Muay Thai with sea views in the morning and surf in the Atlantic swell, then yoga at sunset.

Afternoons and evenings are built around whatever makes the destination worth the flight. Nosara covers surf lessons, full-body massages, waterfall hikes, beach bonfires and sunset watch parties. Thailand includes a sunset boat trip, a waterfall hike and a Songkran celebration with the group on Chaweng Beach Road. Morocco sends you into the souks and medinas with a guide between sessions, ending with tagine dinners back at the hotel. The New York weekend is tighter: two private lessons with Sean, a group session at Gambit Fighting, hikes on the River to Ridge trail and at Mohonk, plus brunch, dinners and drinks at local spots.

What separates this from a training camp that happens to be abroad is the food and the beds. Meals are chef-prepared — three a day on the Costa Rica trip, plus a post-workout tropical smoothie. Accommodation is picked rather than defaulted to: oceanfront villas, jungle bungalows, eco-friendly luxury rooms at the edge of the Nosara jungle, a boutique stone hotel on the Moroccan Atlantic, and on the New York weekend, a private studio on Sean's own property.

Sean has been in the sport more than a decade. He started under JJ Russo at Stockade Muay Thai in Kingston, NY, at the tail end of a boxing career, then went on to 30-plus fights, appearances on Lion Fight and national Thai television, two amateur championships (one won with a broken arm) and a title at Madison Square Garden. He retired from competing and went full-time on coaching; his YouTube channel and Muay Thai Guy brand have reached millions of fighters and hobbyists. These trips are how he puts that same instruction in front of students in person, for a full week at a time.

Group sizes vary by trip — 1 to 2 people on the New York weekend, 10 to 15 in Morocco, 15 to 30 in Costa Rica and Thailand. The range of experience is wide on purpose: people who've never thrown a punch train next to guests with ten years of gym time.
