Luxor · 8 days · From USD 1590
The week follows the Nile south. You start in Luxor — the Karnak and Luxor temple complexes, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el-Bahari and the Colossi of Memnon — then sail downstream (northwards, in river terms) to Dendera and Abydos if the itinerary includes them, on to Edfu and Kom Ombo, and finally Aswan, where the boat docks for two nights and you visit Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk, plus a felucca sail past Elephantine Island and the Aga Khan Mausoleum.
Movement runs around the sightseeing rather than competing with it. A typical day is a 60–75 minute yoga or mobility session at first light on the sun deck, breakfast, then a guided excursion in the cooler part of the morning. After lunch and a rest through the hottest hours, there's a second session in the late afternoon — sometimes strength or circuit-based, sometimes restorative yoga — followed by dinner. On sailing days there's no excursion, so sessions are longer and there's time for the pool and loungers on deck.
The classes are taught by a fitness and yoga professional who travels with the group for the whole week and adjusts each session to the level of the people in front of them. Beginners are welcome; so are regular gym-goers who'll get more load and harder variations. Because the group is capped at 20, the instructor knows everyone's names and limitations by day two.
What separates this from a standard Nile cruise is that the exercise programme is the spine of the week, not an optional add-on. You're not sharing a boat with tour groups who booked a completely different product — the whole group is here for the same rhythm: train, eat, see something extraordinary, rest, train again. The other difference is the boat itself: a five-star vessel with private cabins, a pool on deck and a chef who handles vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and high-protein requests if you tell the operator in advance.
Prices start at €1,590 per person for the eight-day / seven-night package, with flights and entry visas not included. Departures run from October through early May, which is the window when daytime temperatures along the Nile are workable for outdoor training.
