Mallorca Yoga, Strength & Adventure Retreat in the Tramuntana Mountains

Mallorca Yoga, Strength & Adventure Retreat in the Tramuntana Mountains

Balearic Islands · 7 days · From EUR 1400

The week runs seven nights from a Saturday to a Saturday, fully catered. Mornings are the busiest part of the day: kriya and meditation in the garden first, then two 75-minute yoga classes back to back. The opening class is the more demanding dynamic practice; the second is mobility work pitched so that anyone in the group can do it. You are not signed up to both — the teacher expects people to take the second class off if they're tired, or skip the first if they'd rather take it easier.

Brunch is the main meal of the day and it's a buffet, mostly vegetarian, cooked by a private cook who works the retreat for the week. After that the schedule empties out on purpose. Some people drive to the beach, some book a massage, some swim in the saltwater pool at the villa and don't leave. On three of the afternoons Emily McClendon runs optional strength training sessions — these are the only structured activity in the afternoon block and they're not compulsory.

Late afternoon is a second, gentler practice slot: breathwork, meditation or restorative yoga, before dinner. After dinner there's nothing on the timetable. Sa Cabaneta has bars and restaurants a short walk from the villa, and the group tends to wander out some nights and stay in on others.

What separates this from a standard yoga week is the mix of the two. You get a serious daily yoga load plus optional strength work with a named coach, at a villa restored specifically for yoga practice, in a mountain setting that most Mallorca retreats don't have. It's a working week rather than a lie-on-a-beach week, but the afternoons are genuinely yours and nobody chases you into a class.

The location does a lot of the work. The Serra de Tramuntana runs along the northwest coast — pine forest, olive groves and stone villages — and the coastline with its turquoise water is a short drive away. Tramuntana Flow sits between the two. The retreat centre is close to the village but feels remote, surrounded by gardens with trees, flowers and a lot of birdlife.
