Malta · 7 days
The trip centres on two islands a few miles apart, about 60 miles south of Sicily. Malta is the larger, busier one — Valletta, Mdina, harbour towns and a lot of Baroque architecture. Gozo, reached by a short ferry, is quieter and more rural, with clifftop walks and a coastline popular with divers. Because the islands are small, you can move between them easily and don't lose a day in transit.
The format is flexible. You choose a hotel (or two), then add whatever wellness and activity elements you want — spa treatments, yoga, snorkelling, scuba diving, walking. It works equally well as a long spa weekend or a two-week active break. The company's team on the ground in Malta handles the logistics once you're there.
Two hotels on Gozo are recommended. Kempinski San Lawrenz is a comfortable, low-key resort in a peaceful corner of the island with a large spa, Ayurvedic treatments and several pools. Hotel Ta' Cenc & Spa sits on the highest point of Gozo, with clifftop views and a more traditional feel. On Malta, Verdala Wellness Hotel AX Privilege is an adults-only (16+) five-star in the countryside near Rabat, a few minutes from Mdina, with a pool, spa and yoga studio.
The islands are known for their diving. Gozo regularly gets named as one of Europe's best scuba destinations — visibility around 30 metres, a good range of dive sites, and plenty of snorkelling spots close to shore if you'd rather stay on the surface. Both recommended Gozo hotels have spas, so non-divers aren't left out.
Best time to travel is May to October for reliable sun. Spring and early autumn are the nicest if you want to walk or avoid summer crowds. The islands are mild in winter too — cool, but rarely cold enough to stop you getting out.
Flights from London take about three hours, the currency is the euro, and there's no visa requirement for British citizens. The company holds ATOL protection and Protected Trust Services cover.
