Marrakech · 6 days · From EUR 1150
The week is split between two daily training blocks and long open afternoons. Mornings start at 07:30 with bodyweight and resistance work in the parks and squares near the medina — circuits using your own body, resistance bands, kettlebells and medicine balls. Rachid keeps these to about 75 minutes and moves the group between stations so nobody is standing around in the sun waiting their turn. You're back at the riad by 09:00 for breakfast, and the rest of the morning is yours.
Evening sessions run from 18:00 and are shorter and harder: conditioning, boxing pad work, sprints if the group wants them, and mobility to finish. Because it cools off after five, this is when the intensity goes up. On the Wednesday there's no evening session at all — instead you're booked into a traditional hammam for a black-soap scrub followed by an argan-oil massage, which is the thing most people say they'd come back for.
The Thursday is the long day. The group leaves after breakfast and drives out to the foothills of the High Atlas above Marrakech, then walks a marked trail through Berber villages with a local guide — around three to four hours of steady uphill walking at a pace that a reasonably fit walker can hold, with lunch in a village house. It's a walk, not a climb: trainers are fine, boots are better. On the way back you stop at a viewpoint over the valley before returning to the riad for a late dinner.
What separates this from the spa-and-sun packages that dominate Marrakech is that it's genuinely a training week. Rachid writes a plan for the five days before you arrive and adjusts it depending on who's in the group — if everyone already lifts, the morning sessions get heavier; if people are new, he spends more time on technique. He's been coaching in Marrakech for over a decade, holds a recognised personal training certification, and works with both local athletes and visiting clients. He speaks English, French and Arabic. Sessions are capped at ten people, which means he can correct a deadlift or a press-up position rather than just counting reps.
The riad sits in the medina within walking distance of the souks and about fifteen minutes from Jemaa el-Fnaa. Rooms are traditional — tadelakt walls, carved wood or plasterwork, some with their own terrace — and there's a small plunge pool and a roof terrace where breakfast and dinner are served when it's warm enough. It's a quiet base to come back to after training, which matters more than it sounds when the city outside is loud from morning to night.
Prices for the week start at €1,150 per person sharing, and the solo-supplement figures are listed on the operator's booking page. Everything above is included: five nights, airport transfers both ways, breakfast and dinner daily, all training, the Atlas day out with a guide, and the hammam and massage. You'd need to cover flights, travel insurance, lunches and anything you buy in the souks.
