Medical Detox and Weight-Loss Programme at MAYRLIFE Altaussee, Austrian Alps

The building sits in Altaussee itself, a lakeside town in the Salzkammergut region of Austria. Rooms face either the lake or the mountains, and most have a balcony. The spa and treatment areas are in the same building as the rooms and restaurant, so you are not travelling between sites for appointments.

What separates this from a standard fitness retreat is the medical side. A doctor sees you at the start and sets your programme; the four-night Health Potential Reset is built around diagnostics and a personal medical assessment, and the longer programmes include daily consultations with your MAYRLIFE doctor. Treatments on the menu include cryotherapy, colon hydrotherapy, Watsu, osteopathy, acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, Shiatsu, machine lymph drainage, SalinAir inhalation, hypoxy training and IHHT oxygen therapy. The Anti-Inflammation programme targets chronic inflammation, and the Stress Control programme uses emotional detoxification sessions alongside Watsu.

Movement is part of every programme rather than an add-on. Personal training, yoga, movement therapy and hydrotherapy are listed among the core services, and the activity timetable includes hiking, Nordic walking, mountain climbing, cycling and skiing in season. Guests can head out with a mountain guide — one reviewer did a 1:1 mountain hike. The gym and pool are open alongside scheduled sessions.

Food follows the Mayr principles: set meal times, controlled portions, locally sourced ingredients, and an award-winning chef in the kitchen. One guest wrote that they had worried about the food and found the meals excellent. Cooking workshops run during the week so you can take the approach home.
