A typical day starts around 7am with a fitness session — often a walk or a monitored cardio block on equipment linked to heart rate monitors, so trainers can see exactly how hard you're working and adjust the session on the spot. Breakfast follows in the resort dining room. It's not a buffet of diet shakes; it's real food cooked by the kitchen, and you'll sit down to it knowing roughly how many calories and how much sodium are on the plate.
Mid-morning is usually classroom time: a lecture from a nutritionist or exercise physiologist on fat metabolism, reading food labels, cholesterol, blood pressure or how to eat out without undoing the week's work. Lunch, then an afternoon of practical sessions — strength work, stretching, sometimes a pool-based class — and a culinary demonstration where a chef walks through full meals made without added fat or sugar. You'll taste everything you watch being made.
What makes this one different from a standard fitness retreat is the medical layer wrapped around the whole thing. Guests are assessed at the start and monitored throughout, with metabolic testing and DEXA body composition scans available so you can see whether you're losing fat and keeping muscle, rather than just watching a scale move. That matters because losing muscle slows your metabolism and makes weight regain more likely, and the staff here are explicitly working against that outcome.
The staff is the other difference. This is a resort with doctors on the payroll, not a hotel that brings in a personal trainer twice a day. Physicians, registered dietitians, exercise physiologists and chefs all work off the same guest file, which means if your blood pressure is being watched, your trainer knows and your meal plan reflects it.
The setting helps. The programme runs inside a luxury resort in south Florida — tropical gardens, an outdoor pool, proper hotel rooms rather than dorm beds. You're not in a clinical facility that smells of disinfectant. You're in a resort where the schedule happens to be built around getting healthier.
Expect it to be hard for the first three or four days. Between the early starts, the volume of exercise and the sudden drop in salt and sugar, most people feel flat by midweek. By day five or six the food starts tasting different — sharper, sweeter, more like actual food — which is one of the things past guests mention most.
