Medical Wellness and Weight-Loss Retreat in the Italian Dolomites

ADLER Spa Resort BALANCE is in the Dolomites in South Tyrol, northern Italy. The medical side of the resort, ADLER Med, is what these packages are built around, and it works differently from a normal spa break. Before anything is booked, one of the resort's doctors sits down with you to work out what you actually need, and a lot of the programming is then driven by measurements rather than guesswork.

The on-site laboratory means blood tests are processed and results returned the same day. A bioimpedance analysis (BIA) breaks down your body weight into muscle mass, body fat, water balance, bone mass and abdominal fat, and also measures metabolism, stress levels and how well your body burns oxygen and converts food into energy. There's also a bioelectric check-up that looks at tissue acidification, toxin load, organ function and allergy proneness, and an Age Reader that measures AGEs through skin fluorescence in seconds as a marker of metabolic aging and cardiovascular risk. All of these are priced individually — BIA at €92, the bioelectric check-up at €92, the Age Reader at €92 — so you can add exactly what you want to the base package.

The Weight Loss & Detox package is the flagship at 5 nights from €3,120 per person. It's one of eight ADLER Med packages, alongside a Gastroenterological Check-up (5 nights from €2,985), a burnout, work-related stress and smoking programme (4 nights from €2,765), inflammation and chronic pain (4 nights from €2,539), biorhythm rebalancing and sleep (3 nights from €2,365), a preventive metabolic, diabetes and cholesterol check-up (3 nights from €1,940), an osteoporosis and cell degeneration programme (3 nights from €2,252), and an ADLER Friends preventive check-up (4 nights from €1,503). All run across a long season from 07.05.2026 to 02.12.2026.

The doctors are named on the site. Dr Colomba Aura Romeo is a medical doctor, surgeon and general medicine specialist, a homeopath and an expert in complementary medicine — she's the one most of the naturopathic and acupuncture side falls under. Dr Rossana Lo Monaco is a specialist in plastic surgery, which lines up with the aesthetic medicine offering, and Dr Vesna Murganic is a medical doctor with a paediatrics specialism. The specialist areas cover regenerative therapies, detox and nutrition, stress management, prevention and diagnosis, natural medicine and naturopathy, and aesthetic medicine.

Some of what's on offer is genuinely unusual. Cryotherapy uses a three-minute session in a Cryo Box at -160°C — dry cold, so it's generally well tolerated even by older guests — with the aim of speeding recovery, reducing inflammation and triggering endorphin and serotonin release. Sessions are sold in blocks: one for €57, three for €144, six for €260, or ten for €370. Oxygen ozone therapy is offered as large autologous haemoinfusion (€178), small haemoinfusion (€128), subcutaneous or intramuscular injections (€128), rectal insufflation (€80), vaginal insufflation (€80) or combined rectal and vaginal insufflation (€120). The regenerative IV infusion cocktails are split into named formulas — Energy (€140), Skinset (€142), Immunity (€196), Anti-ageing (€135), Detox (€165) and PowerBoost (€320).

There's also a full menu of testing if you want to find out what's actually going on: specific blood tests from €20, blood group testing at €25, a 90-food intolerance test at €235, coeliac testing from €62, complete gut testing (flora, stool and histamine) at €470, and a heavy metal hair analysis at €180. Acupuncture runs as a first visit at €180 for 60 minutes including an initial treatment where possible, and follow-up sessions at 120 €for 40 minutes, in needle or needle-free form, auriculotherapy, or chemo-acupuncture with homeopathic remedies. The guidance is a maximum of two sessions a week with at least five to six days between them. A 147 €medical balance treatment does full-body work with essential oils, phytotherapeutic flower essence sprays, acupuncture meridian work, plantar and ear acupressure, Reiki and abdominal Shiatsu Makoto.
