Mekong Delta Guided Cycling Holiday: 8-Day Vietnam Bike Tour

Vietnam · 8 days · From EUR 1157

Day one is arrival and settling in Ho Chi Minh City, with airport pickup from Tan Son Nhat. The riding starts properly on day two, heading into Tien Giang province toward Ben Tre. You'll pedal through coconut-palm groves and take a boat trip at Cai Be and Ben Tre, seeing how the delta's waterways double as roads and marketplaces. The support vehicle starts shadowing the group from this day, and a mechanic and backup bike are with you for the rest of the trip. Lunch and dinner are included on riding days, and you overnight at Mekong Eco Lodge.

The middle days take you deeper into the delta. You ride to Tra Vinh, where you visit Ang Pagoda and meet Khmer monks near Tieu Can. The route continues to Can Tho, the delta's biggest city, where day five is a full rest day. You can swim, shop, or just let your legs recover before the longest stretch of the trip. Boat trips at Can Tho and Cai Rang floating market are built into the schedule, giving you a look at the delta from the water. You also stop at the Ba Chuc memorial, a sobering site where over 3,000 Vietnamese were killed during Pol Pot's regime in 1978.

After Can Tho, the riding gets longer. You head to Long Xuyen and then Chau Doc, near the Cambodian border, with a boat trip at Chau Doc included. The final riding day brings you back toward Ho Chi Minh City. Most nights you're in hotels, and the accommodation tier you pick determines whether you're in standard rooms like those at the Iris Hotel or upgraded to places like the New World Saigon and Victoria Can Tho Resort. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided on riding days. The trip runs year-round except during major Vietnamese holidays, with high season from October to April and lower demand from May to September.

What sets this apart from a standard Vietnam bike tour is the ground support. Having a mechanic and spare bike with you from day two means you're not relying on luck or local repair shops. The guide-to-rider ratio stays personal because groups are capped at fourteen, and the route is specifically designed for intermediate riders, not beginners or experts. The mix of cycling and boat trips gives you two ways to see the delta, and the point-to-point lodging means you're not backtracking. International flights, visas, tips, and weekend surcharges at certain Victoria properties are not included, so budget for those separately.
