Sri Lanka · 7 days · From EUR 1330 (indicative)
The retreat runs at De Silva Palm Resort, a garden-style property set among tall king coconut palms. Rooms are air-conditioned with ensuite bathrooms, wifi and a terrace, and the grounds have a pool, open green spaces and a yoga shala or deck. There is also billiards, table tennis and volleyball if you want light activity between sessions. The price is per person, and the listed room is the Serenity Suite at €1,330 for the week.
A typical day starts with guided meditation, then a private beach walk or gentle yoga in the ocean air. Breakfast is served without rush. Later in the morning there is a mindfulness talk, and you can arrange a personal consultation with Umesh for one-to-one support. Lunch is wholesome and freshly prepared, and the afternoon is left open: Ayurvedic therapies, spa treatments, quiet time by the lagoon, or an optional excursion such as dolphin watching, lagoon kayaking or a local village visit.
As the sun sets, there is a sunset meditation, then dinner shared in a peaceful setting. Evenings often end with conversation, journaling or quiet time. The schedule is a sample rather than a fixed timetable, and the pace stays spacious throughout.
What separates this from a standard yoga week is the combination of practices. Mindfulness and meditation sit alongside gentle yoga, Ayurvedic treatments and spa therapies, and the programme includes personal consultations rather than only group classes. The setting is part of it too: Kalpitiya is one of Sri Lanka's quieter coastal regions, with lagoons, open skies and long beaches, and the resort is away from crowds.
Umesh Anuruddha leads the retreat. He is a mindfulness coach and public speaker with over a decade of experience in hospitality and wellness, and the founder of Being-Space, a platform offering retreats, teachings and one-to-one support. He leads the meditation sessions, mindfulness talks and personal consultations, and the programme is built around the body, the mind and the surroundings.
Kalpitiya sits about 150 km from Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, roughly a 3 to 3.5-hour drive. Private airport transfers can be arranged for €90 per person each way. The nearest train station is Puttalam, about 45 minutes away, and buses run from Colombo in around 4 to 5 hours.
