Month of Yoga Fitness in Rishikesh: 200-Hour Hatha & Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training

Rishikesh · 25 days · From USD 443

A typical day starts before breakfast with breathing exercises and cleansing practices, then a long asana class. After breakfast you move into the classroom for philosophy and anatomy. After lunch and a break, the afternoons cover alignment and teaching method: how to cue a pose, adjust a student and put a class together. A second asana session follows in the late afternoon, and the day ends with meditation before dinner.

What sets this course apart is that it pairs Hatha with Ashtanga Vinyasa. Most 200-hour courses pick one style. Here you learn the held, alignment-led postures of Hatha and the set, breath-counted sequences of Ashtanga in the same month. That gives new teachers more options when they start out and have to teach whoever turns up.

The curriculum goes well past the poses. You cover yoga philosophy, functional anatomy (how joints and muscles actually behave in each pose), pranayama, meditation and shatkarma cleansing techniques. Basic Ayurvedic principles appear throughout, especially around food and daily routine.

The course is run by Arohan Yoga School, an Indian school that also runs a 7-day 50-hour Aerial Yoga TTC, a 28-day 300-hour advanced training (Ashtanga Vinyasa, Aerial, Yin and Hatha) and a 25-day multi-style 200-hour course with aerial. That range suggests a school that focuses on teacher training rather than drop-in retreats. The named lead teachers are confirmed before your stay.

The course title places it in Rishikesh, the town on the Ganges in the Himalayan foothills that is known worldwide as a centre for yoga study. You're close to the river, the ashrams and the hills. Full directions and travel guidance are sent once your booking is confirmed.

The pace is demanding on purpose. You'll be on the mat for several hours a day for more than three weeks, so arrive with some yoga experience and a reasonable base of fitness.
