Morocco Surf & Mountain Adventure: Ocean Waves to Atlas Summit

The surf camp sits in Tamraght, a small village on the coast south of Agadir. Days there follow a simple rhythm: yoga in the morning, breakfast, two surf sessions with a break for lunch, then free time in the afternoon. Instructors take you to different breaks depending on conditions and your level. Evenings are relaxed — communal dinners, video analysis of the day's surfing, maybe a film night.

Midway through the week there's a trip to the Small Sahara, where the desert runs right down to the Atlantic. You'll sandboard the dunes and watch the sun set over the water. Another afternoon takes you to the traditional market in Agadir, a good chance to wander and buy things you don't need.

The mountain section starts with a transfer to Imlil, a Berber village at 1,800 metres that serves as the trailhead for Toubkal. From there you hike four to five hours to base camp at around 3,200 metres, gaining a thousand metres of elevation. You sleep in a mountain refuge, eat dinner early, and set off before dawn the next morning for the summit push. The final climb takes three to four hours, timed so you reach the top at sunrise. After that it's back down to base camp for lunch, then a further two to three hours to Imlil, where a transfer takes you to Marrakech.

No technical climbing is involved — it's a long hike, not a mountaineering route. But you do need to be able to walk uphill for several hours at altitude. The guides set a steady pace and know the mountain well.
