Muay Thai Training Camp in Chiang Mai with Daily Pad Work and Clinch Sessions

Chiang Mai · 7 days · From THB 8900

A typical day starts at 06:30 with a run — either around the moat or on the treadmill if it's raining — followed by skipping, shadow boxing and stretching. Then it's pad work with a trainer, three to five rounds, then bag work and clinch. The morning block finishes around 09:00 and breakfast is served after. Afternoons start at 16:00 with the same structure: skipping, pads, bags, clinch, and sparring on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sessions run about two hours each.

The trainers are working Thai fighters and ex-fighters, and the camp arranges fights at the nearby stadiums for anyone who wants one — Thapae Boxing Stadium and the Saturday night fights at the Night Bazaar are both within a short ride. If you're not fighting, you still get the same pad work and the same attention; nobody is left to hit a bag on their own.

What separates this from the bigger tourist camps is the size. Groups are kept small, so the trainers know your name by day two and adjust what they're holding for you. There's no set curriculum you have to follow — if you want to spend a week on your teep, you can.

The gym itself is open-air with a covered roof, a full ring, around ten heavy bags, a speed bag and a small weights area. There's a shop on site selling gloves, shin guards and wraps if you've travelled without kit, and you can rent gloves for the session if you'd rather not buy.

Chiang Mai is a good base for this. It's a city, not a beach resort, so there's real life going on around the gym — markets, temples, cheap food, coffee shops to sit in between sessions. Most people stay two to four weeks, and the camp prices by the week with a discount for longer stays.
