Thailand · 21 days
Kombat Group sits on Soi Chaknok 19 in Huai Yai, Banglamung, Chonburi — inland from Pattaya, roughly a 20–30 minute drive from the city's beachfront. The camp runs structured courses: Muay Thai, Western Boxing, BJJ, MMA, a self-defence programme, an instructor course and a weight-loss programme. Most people come for the Muay Thai course, which is what Nina trained in for three weeks, alongside some boxing and kickboxing she'd already done back home in Germany.
Training runs in two sessions a day, usually early morning and late afternoon, and the camp's own description of its coaching is that trainers work with your performance and abilities, identify your weak points and rebuild them — technique and general conditioning both. That's the part Nina singled out: she had trained in Thailand at other camps before and said she'd never had such concentrated attention on her own goals. The trainers are described as professional and patient, and the camp says the way the sport is taught here makes it safe for women, men and children at any level.
The camp itself is clean, and the food is cooked on-site. Nina called it varied, healthy and high quality, built to fuel the training rather than to be a highlight in itself. Rooms are on the property, so you walk from your bed to the ring, and the daily rhythm is training, eating, resting, training again. There's a Facebook page, a blog with fight reports and a steady stream of guest testimonials, several of which describe coming back for second and third stays.
Long stays are the norm rather than the exception. Nina stayed three weeks and is planning to come back for a longer block to prepare for a fight. The camp lists Muay Thai Fights and Boxing Fights among its tags, so it does arrange bouts for guests who want them — that's the top end of what people train for here. At the other end, the weight-loss programme and the self-defence programme both exist for people whose goal isn't competition at all.
What makes it different from a generic Thai fight camp is the coaching model rather than the equipment. Plenty of camps in Pattaya have rings and pads. The specific claim here, backed up by the guest account, is individual diagnosis — trainers who watch what you're doing badly and fix that, rather than putting you through a set class. If you're the kind of person who wants to be corrected constantly and to see measurable progress in three weeks, that's the pitch.
