Costa Rica · 7 days · From EUR 1695
The Costa Rica trip is seven nights at Jungle's Edge Resort in Nosara, on the Nicoya Peninsula. You train Muay Thai twice a day with Sean and hand-picked pros, do yoga every morning with a professional instructor, and there's open BJJ if you want more mat time. Three meals a day are included plus a tropical smoothie after each workout. One surf lesson or a full-body massage is part of the package, and the week also includes waterfall hikes, beach bonfires, sunset watch parties and group excursions. The resort's saltwater infinity pool has been ranked one of the ten coolest in the world. Nosara itself is a surf-and-yoga town on the Pacific coast of Guanacaste, surrounded by jungle and howler monkeys — you're walking distance from the beach and a short ride from the restaurants and cafés in town.
Koh Samui is the long one: 11 nights at FitKoh in Ban Tai, with 10 training days. You train where the sport was born. Two of those nights are spent at live fight nights in real Thai stadiums, watching cards that Sean and the team are plugged into. There's combat strength and kettlebell work on the beach, ice baths, breathwork, yoga and mobility sessions, a sunset boat trip and a waterfall hike. The trip overlaps with Songkran, Thailand's New Year water festival, so the group spends a day on Chaweng Beach Road in the middle of it. FitKoh is a dedicated Muay Thai facility in the south of the island, and the camp has a reputation among fighters who make the trip to Thailand specifically to train.
Morocco is the newest of the three, dates still to be confirmed for 2027. It's seven nights in a boutique stone hotel on the Moroccan Atlantic coast, with seven training days. Mornings are Muay Thai and surf in the Atlantic swell; evenings are yoga at sunset. Partner drills and light sparring happen oceanside. Between sessions there are guided excursions, plus time in the souks and medinas, and tagine dinners with the group. Group size is capped smaller here, at 10–15, against 15–30 in Costa Rica and Thailand.
The New Paltz weekend is the short version — two nights, flying into NYC and driving 90 minutes upstate. It includes two private Muay Thai lessons with Sean, one group session at Gambit Fighting, and a private studio on Sean's property to sleep in. Group size is one to two people, so it's essentially one-on-one coaching. Hikes at River to Ridge and Mohonk fill the afternoons, with brunch, dinners and drinks at local spots and all ground transport covered.
Sean started training under JJ Russo at Stockade Muay Thai in Kingston, New York, at the end of a boxing career. Thirty-plus fights later he'd competed on Lion Fight, fought on national Thai TV, won two amateur championships (one with a broken arm) and taken a title at Madison Square Garden. He retired from competing and went into coaching full-time — over ten years now. His YouTube channel and Muay Thai Guy brand reach millions of fighters and hobbyists, and the retreats are how he brings that into a room of real students for a full week at a time.
