Muay Thai Training Retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica – 7 Nights with Kru Vivek

Costa Rica · 8 days · From EUR 1785

A typical day starts at 7am with an optional beach jog, then breakfast at the resort at 8. Training block one runs 10:00 to 11:30 — usually a warm-up, then pad rounds and technique work, with Vivek and the coaching team circulating and correcting. Lunch is at noon. Afternoons are either a second Muay Thai session (1:30–3:00 on Days 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) or free time. Day 1 swaps the afternoon session for the included waterfall tour. Day 4 starts with optional yoga at the nearby Bodhi Tree resort (about $20 a class, not included) instead of the beach jog. Days 2 and 3 offer optional surf lessons in the morning at roughly $90 per person. Evenings are unstructured: drinks and games by the fire pit at 5:30 on training days, dinner at 7, then people drift off or sit around talking.

This isn't a fight camp in the sense of hard sparring every day. It's a training holiday — you'll do real Muay Thai (stance, footwork, kicks, elbows, knees, clinch work, pad rounds) but the schedule leaves room for the pool, the cold plunge, and the 15–20 minute walk to the beach. Surf lessons, massages, and drop-in yoga can be arranged through the resort or nearby businesses for an extra cost.

Nosara sits on the Nicoya Peninsula, one of the world's five recognised Blue Zones, and the town is built around that reputation — clean water, good produce, lots of people walking or cycling, and a laid-back surf-town feel with international restaurants and markets. Jungle's Edge is seconds from the training studio but tucked among banana trees, so you're in the jungle rather than on top of the town.

Kru Vivek Nakarmi runs the programme. He's a decorated former professional fighter (WKA national champion in 2006, multiple world tournament medals, a 2017 USMTA professional title at 135 lb) and now the WBC USA Muay Thai Mid-Atlantic Regional Director. He also holds a BJJ purple belt. He teaches beginners and competitive fighters, and the camp is structured so that people at very different levels can train in the same sessions.

Where this stands out against other Muay Thai holidays is the combination of a genuinely credentialed head coach, an all-inclusive resort setup (accommodation, three meals a day, airport transfers, pool, gym and cold plunge), and a location that most people would book as a standalone holiday. The room options range from a budget glamping hut with no A/C or hot water up to air-conditioned two-bedroom suites with full kitchens, so the price point varies quite a lot depending on what you want to sleep in.

Logistics are simple. You fly into Liberia (LIR), about 2.5 hours away by road, and if you land between 11am and 3pm on the arrival day and leave in the same window on departure day, the shared shuttle is included. The 2026 dates run Saturday 12 December to Saturday 19 December, and the balance is paid in two instalments — 50% of the remainder by 1 July 2026, the rest by 13 October 2026.
