Home › Retreats › Nervous System Reset & Equine Therapy Retreat in Somerset
United Kingdom · 3 days · From USD 3323
The retreat unfolds on a private, seven-acre site in Somerset, where a herd of four highly experienced therapy horses and three alpacas live freely across meadows, tracks, and a stretch of the River Frome. Each session is guided by the founder of Track Clinic, Nina Leijerstam, and her team of facilitators, who are drawn from trauma-informed psychotherapy and allied disciplines. Work with the herd is entirely ground-based and experiential—no riding is involved—and is adapted to your pace and comfort, whether you're a seasoned horse person or have never been near one.
The program is a curated blend of equine therapy, nervous system regulation, and integration in nature. Sessions are described as intentional, safely held, and unrushed, offering space to explore patterns affecting your daily life. Between sessions, you can use the provided hammocks, the shepherd's hut with a wood burner, or the outdoor fire pit for quiet contemplation. The land itself, with its ancient yew trees, young orchard, and abundant wildlife, is a core part of the therapeutic environment.
In the evenings, you retreat to The Bath Arms Inn, a traditional country inn established in 1736, located on the edge of the Longleat Forest Estate, just a 10-minute drive from the retreat centre. The inn offers luxuriously styled rooms with modern comforts, and you can pre-book a holistic massage before dinner. While evening meals are not included, you are free to dine at the inn or explore the vibrant restaurant scene in the nearby town of Frome.
This retreat is less about acquiring skills and more about gaining deep insight and being fully seen. By the end of the three days, most guests find they have a new perspective on themselves and their relationships, and feel more grounded and connected to their own inner experience. The experience is often described as profoundly moving, and it aims to provide a sense of clarity and renewal that lasts long after you leave.
