Oceanfront Yoga & Wellness Retreat Venue on Mexico's Pacific Coast

Mexico · 7 days

A typical day here starts early. Guests walk from their casita or treehouse to one of the ocean-front shalas for a morning practice while it is still cool, usually a yoga or meditation session before breakfast. Breakfast is served in the communal dining room, cooked with produce from the on-site farm. Mornings are normally the main teaching block — most groups take Shala One or the Tortuga Shalla for a two- to three-hour session. Lunch follows, then the afternoon is open: some groups run a second workshop, others leave it free for the beach, the pool or a massage. Evening sessions are usually gentler, and dinner is served communally in the dining room.

The food is all-inclusive and made on site from local ingredients, and the kitchen handles vegan and other diets. Reviews repeatedly single out the meals — guests describe eating three healthy meals a day and the chefs cooking exactly to preference. Because the property only has a few cottages, the kitchen can adjust to individual needs rather than running a fixed buffet.

What separates this from a standard resort is the setting and the quiet. There is no loud music, no crowds, and no one else on the beach for miles. The property sits between the Pacific and the Sierra Madre Mountains, and guests regularly report seeing whales and dolphins offshore. It is also a working turtle sanctuary — hundreds of baby turtles are released into the sea each morning, and guests can watch or take part.

The staff include professional yoga teachers and massage therapists, so groups can add sessions without bringing their own people. The venue has hosted yoga retreats, meditation retreats, healing retreats, couples retreats, company retreats and family reunions. Retreat leaders who return year after year cite the consistency: the food, rooms, venue and staff are handled, so the leader only has to run the programme.

The property is run as a regenerative operation. It rebuilt the land and planted a food forest, and it trains its own farm staff, who then pass the methods on through the local village. Guests who book here are effectively supporting that work, which is one of the reasons leaders keep coming back.
