Home › Retreats › Outdoor HYROX Training Camp in Lanzarote: Run, Sled, Row Under the Sun
Canary Islands · 7 days · From EUR 700
The core of the week is the HYROX workout. Because it's the same everywhere, training here means training the exact stations you'll face on race day: 1km run, then SkiErg, then 1km run, then sled push, and so on through sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls — eight rounds total. The resort runs specific HYROX classes on its weekly programme, and you can also use the facilities independently if you'd rather do your own sessions.
Club La Santa is a big sports resort, not a boutique retreat. It has a fitness centre with cardio machines, weight-lifting stations and free weights, a CrossFit area, an outdoor functional training space, a powerlifting setup, Olympic weightlifting platforms, and a leisure pool. The timetable is the differentiator: classes run from early morning (08:00 morning gymnastics by the pool, every day) through to evening, and include Les Mills programmes like Bodypump, Bodyattack, Bodycombat and Bodybalance, plus kettlebell training, TRX, Aerial fitness, Pilates reformer, Fitness yoga, Zumba, Aqua jogging, Aqua party, trampoline fitness, step, functional mobility, fascial training, and outdoor Body Bike sessions on SMART+ bikes.
What makes this different from a standard fitness holiday is the HYROX angle plus the sheer volume of coached classes. Most resorts have a gym; very few have an official HYROX training setup with sleds and SkiErgs outdoors, and a programme that lets you stack multiple coached sessions a day if you want to. You can also book a race, since the resort hosts HYROX events and the rankings feed into an accumulative World Championship at the end of the race season. That means you're not just training for a vague goal — there's a real race and a real leaderboard if you want to enter.
The coaching is delivered by the resort's own instructor team rather than a single named head coach. Across the programme you'll get different instructors for different disciplines — Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting classes are deliberately small so you get individual feedback on your technique, while the HYROX and functional sessions run as group training. Instructors teach in English, and classes are structured by level where it matters (TRX has beginner and intermediate options, step has three choreography levels).
Lanzarote itself is a big part of the appeal. Club La Santa sits on the coast near La Santa village on the west side of the island, close to Famara and the volcanic landscapes of Timanfaya. It's windy, sunny and mild year-round, which is why so many triathlon and cycling teams train here. On rest days you can swim in the sea, drive up to the lava fields, or take a bike out along the coast road. The weather is the reason the HYROX training happens outdoors rather than in a box.
