Thailand · 7 days
Chivitr sits on a verdant hillside overlooking Nai Harn Lake, about a short stroll from Nai Harn Beach in Rawai, at the southern end of Phuket. The property is deliberately small: eight suites and one residence, named after elements of nature. Interiors mix traditional Chinese and Chino-Portuguese design — antique doors, locally sourced furnishings, antique curios, Persian rugs and Frette linens. Lake, pool and garden views are available depending on the suite.
The wellness approach blends Eastern tradition with laboratory science. Practitioners draw on Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese and Applied Traditional Thai Medicine alongside modern methodology, and each programme is put together after a consultation so it matches your health goals. Available therapies include gut microbiome testing with personalised probiotics, biophoton analysis and interactive reflection, lymphatic therapy, breathing therapy and under-water breathing therapy, vibration and sound therapy, hydrotherapy and watsu.
The facilities are purpose-built for that work: a magnesium hydrotherapy warm pool, a yoga and meditation pavilion, a gym, herbal steam and full-spectrum infrared saunas, and red light therapy, all within well-tended tropical gardens. The retreat harvests rainwater — 300,000 litres is stored underground — and uses a passive cooling system, so the estate stays cool without heavy air conditioning.
Food is treated as part of the programme. Chefs cook with high-quality fresh ingredients, many grown in the on-site herb garden, and the kitchen works to the idea that what you eat defines how you live. Daily activities range from mindful walks around the lake to yoga, meditation and hands-on culinary sessions using organic, locally sourced ingredients.
Founder Pornthip Noppakoon spent over 25 years learning and developing health protocols before opening Chivitr on 8 August 2016. She built the retreat around a Lifestyle and Functional Medicine approach and assembled a team of specialists in integrative medical treatments and therapies. Her stated aim is that guests leave with practical routines they can keep using at home, not just a week of treatments.
