Phuket Yoga Retreat: Two Daily Classes at Mangosteen Ayurveda & Wellness Resort

Thailand · 8 days

A typical day starts with a 60-minute yoga session, often Hatha Stretch or Vinyasa Flow, held in the Prana Yoga Sala or the Ananda room. Breakfast follows, then the middle of the day is free — swim in the pool, book a massage at the spa, walk down to Rawai Beach, or take a taxi to Nai Harn or Kata for the afternoon. The second 60-minute session lands in the late afternoon, and the style shifts across the week between Yin, alignment and therapy work, and breathwork meditation. Some weeks add a pranayama session and a sound-healing session.

The teaching team is larger than most retreats of this size. Orlando Matos Abreu, Daosuk "Dao" Sethi and Kirstin Gourlay are named as lead yoga instructors, with further classes from Koong Jiraphorn, Nuya Laksanachan, Supisara "Pin" Nunta (also a Reiki master), Maria Curtin (who also teaches Muay Thai) and Esmeralda P. Torres. Ayurvedic doctors Dr Nezeem Kadavil Uthuman (BAMS) and Dr Megha S. Nair (BAMS) are on site, as is spa manager and Thai traditional medicine practitioner Dr Pimpitcha "Pim" Charoenradasakul. Personal training with ISSA-certified trainer Michel Kary is available.

What separates this from a stand-alone yoga studio holiday is the setup: two dedicated practice spaces, a full Ayurveda and spa operation, and villa accommodation all on one property. You can do two classes a day and nothing else, or build a week around Ayurvedic consultations, Thai massage and day trips.

The resort sits at 99/4 Moo 7, T. Rawai, A. Muang, 83130 Phuket. Rawai is the southern cape of the island — quieter than Patong or Kata, with a long beachfront road of seafood restaurants, a pier for boat trips to nearby islands, and easy access to Nai Harn Beach, Promthep Cape and the Big Buddha. Phuket International Airport is roughly an hour's drive north.

The programme runs year-round rather than on fixed departure dates, so you pick the dates that suit you. Non-guests cannot join the classes, but day passes are available for people staying elsewhere who want a full day at the resort.
