Home › Retreats › Pilates and Island Rest: A Seven-Night Reset on Amorgos, Greece
Amorgos · 8 days · From USD 3950
Days start with Pilates. Five of the sessions use Reformers and two are mat classes, and the teaching is aimed at building strength from the inside out rather than wearing you down. The group is kept small so beginners get hands-on corrections; the page explicitly welcomes people who have not done Pilates in years, or ever. Beyond that, the schedule is left open on purpose. You might walk ten minutes into Aegiali Bay for lunch at a taverna, take the hotel's seawater indoor pool and hammam, or do nothing at all.
One activities package is part of the price, and you choose it. The nature option takes you to the Hozoviotissa monastery, built into the cliff face above the sea, then to Agia Anna beach, with a guided hike in the Amorgos hills on another day. The nurture option is a walk with a local plant expert and a cooking class covering traditional Amorgian food. The Neptune option is a private boat on the Aegean with a meal, drinks and a swimming stop on board.
What separates this from a generic Greek island yoga week is the equipment and the room. Reformer Pilates is unusual on the smaller Cyclades, and every guest gets a sea-view bedroom with an en-suite bathroom rather than a shared dorm. The hotel also has the Lalon Idor Spa, with sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and an indoor seawater pool, plus a 30-minute massage and 10% off face and body treatments.
Amorgos itself is the quieter half of the appeal. It is a long ferry ride from Athens — most people fly to Athens, connect to Santorini or Naxos, then take a ferry — and that distance keeps it free of the crowds you find on Mykonos or Santorini. The hotel sits above the beach and the village of Aegiali, with the Amorgos hills behind it.
The instructor's name, training background and certifications are not stated on the page, so ask before booking if that matters to you. What the page does commit to is small-group teaching with personal attention and sessions suitable for total beginners.
