Home › Retreats › Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training on the Caribbean Coast
Colombia · 8 days · From USD 1120
The program is split into four main blocks: fertility yoga, prenatal yoga, yoga for childbirth, and postnatal yoga. Each block covers the specific postures, breathing techniques, and adjustments needed for that stage. Fertility yoga focuses on practices that balance the female reproductive system, with reflexology and aromatherapy to support conception. Prenatal yoga adapts asanas for each trimester, with an emphasis on preparing the body for labor and reducing common discomforts. The childbirth section works on sequences that open the hips and build stamina, plus meditation for mental preparation. Postnatal yoga is gentle and restorative, aimed at rebuilding core strength, healing the pelvic floor, and supporting emotional recovery.
Beyond the yoga practice itself, you'll get deep into the supporting modalities. Reflexology workshops teach you how to work on hands and feet to relieve pregnancy discomforts and support hormonal balance. Aromatherapy sessions cover which essential oils are safe at each stage and how to use them. There's also a sound workshop where you'll learn to use Tibetan singing bowls and gongs — techniques that can be used in classes or with individual clients.
A big part of the week is learning how to teach. You'll practice in front of the group, get feedback from Lila and the other students, and learn how to sequence a prenatal class that's safe, supportive, and genuinely useful. You'll also cover how to create a welcoming space for women who might be nervous, emotional, or in pain — the practical side of holding space rather than just the theory.
The training finishes with an assessment, and upon successful completion you're eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as an RPYT. The certification is recognized internationally, so you can teach prenatal and postnatal yoga anywhere you go. The school also provides a course manual, professional photos of your training, and a tote bag and t-shirt — the small stuff that makes you feel part of something.
