Home › Retreats › Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training at Lake Atitlán
Guatemala · 8 days · From EUR 1430
The curriculum runs through both prenatal and postnatal yoga each day, so you leave able to teach both. You'll cover safe sequencing, modifications for each trimester, and postpartum recovery practices. Instead of just memorizing poses, you'll experience the stages of pregnancy and early motherhood through guided practice and reflective work.
A framework used throughout is the medicine wheel's four directions, which gives structure to the emotional and physical shifts of the childbearing year. It's a way of looking at the whole arc, not just the physical changes. The training also connects the body's rhythms to lunar and earthly cycles, something that comes up again and again in how pregnancy is understood in many traditions.
The group is a mix — yoga teachers, birth professionals, and mothers. That mix is intentional. You get the technical side from the syllabus, but a lot of the learning happens in conversation with people who've been in the room for births or have been through it themselves.
The setting is Lake Atitlán, which is about as good a place as you'll find for this kind of work. The lake is surrounded by volcanoes and Maya villages, and the light and quiet are part of why people come. Off the mat, you can swim, hike, or take a boat to one of the nearby towns.
The lead facilitator is Keri, who has been running yoga teacher trainings in Guatemala and beyond for years. She's behind several 200-hour programs in Bali, Portugal, and Lake Atitlán, and brings that experience to this more specialized training. Her approach is practical — you'll leave with sequences you can actually use, not just theory.
The 50-hour certificate is recognized for continuing education with Yoga Alliance, so if you're already a registered teacher, this counts toward your hours. If you're not a teacher, you still get a solid foundation in prenatal and postnatal yoga that you can apply in your own life or work.
