United States · 4 days · From USD 1986
The heart of this retreat is the six private coaching sessions, which Argentina structures as a complete beginner's immersion rather than a series of drop-in classes. You'll start with the basics — how to breathe properly in pranayama, how to align your body in the foundational poses — and build up gradually across the four days. Because it's just you, you can ask questions whenever you like, spend extra time on a pose that feels tricky, and skip anything that doesn't suit your body. There's no keeping up with a group, and no feeling like you're holding anyone back.
Each day is split between the more educational morning sessions and the more restorative evening ones. Evenings bring Yoga Nidra, meditation, and guided discussions on yoga philosophy, which gives you the 'why' behind the physical practice. Argentina's background is in ISHTA Yoga from New York City, and she's been teaching since 2015 — she's a 500-hour certified teacher with a special focus on Yoga Nidra. Her style is patient and down-to-earth, meeting you at whatever level you're arriving with.
The location is half the appeal. The cabin sits in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside Rutherfordton, a part of Western North Carolina known for rolling countryside, horse country around the Tryon International Equestrian Center, and local wineries. It's genuinely quiet out there — the kind of place where the loudest thing is the birds. But it's not remote in a way that leaves you stranded; you're a short drive from town for dinners, and there are hiking trails nearby if you want to stretch your legs between sessions.
What makes this different from a standard studio class is the pace and the personal attention. Over four days, you're not just learning a sequence of poses — you're building an understanding of how yoga works as a practice, and you leave with a customized home practice plan so the learning doesn't stop when the retreat does. For someone who's felt intimidated by walking into a yoga studio, this is a way to learn the fundamentals in a private, judgment-free setting.
