Puppy Yoga Retreat in Cyprus: Daily Yoga, Rescue Puppies & Mediterranean Sunshine

Days usually start with yoga before breakfast, held either on the terrace or indoors depending on the weather. Classes are small, so the teacher can give individual adjustments, and they're pitched so beginners and people who've practised for years can be in the same room. After breakfast, the day is open until the evening session or whatever's been planned. Some mornings there's a puppy yoga class where the puppies are brought into the space while you practise — expect your downward dog to be interrupted.

The villa is a peaceful base with a pool, a garden and views down towards the sea or up into the hills, depending on which room you're in. Every room has its own private balcony. Meals are vegetarian and cooked on site — homemade cake turns up regularly, and there's a coffee-and-cake session set aside purely for sitting with the puppies. One of the highlights is the puppy beach walk: a relaxed walk along the Cyprus coastline with the rescue dogs, most of whom have never seen the sea before.

Free afternoons are the point of the week. You can drive to Coral Bay for a swim, hike part of the Akamas Peninsula, wander around Paphos's harbour and archaeological park, or stay at the villa with a book and a puppy asleep next to you. Nothing is compulsory beyond the yoga you signed up for.

What sets this apart from a standard yoga retreat is that the puppies aren't a gimmick bolted on for one afternoon. They live at the property, they're fostered from overcrowded shelters by the people running the retreat, and the retreat income funds their care and socialisation until they're adopted. So the week has a purpose beyond your own holiday, and the dogs get used to being handled, walked and around people — which is exactly what makes them easier to rehome. If you want a quiet yoga week with a view and no dogs, this isn't it. If you want both, it's hard to find another one like it.
