Red Sea Yoga & Wellness Week at a 5-Star Egyptian Beach Resort

Red Sea Yoga & Wellness Week at a 5-Star Egyptian Beach Resort

Egypt · 8 days · From EUR 3060

The retreat runs for seven nights at the Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay, a resort built to look like a Moorish fortress, with a series of pools, lagoons and waterfalls stepping down to a white sand beach. Rooms are large, each with a private balcony and a view of the Red Sea, and internet, the gym, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and health club pool are all included. Past guests consistently describe the service as the standout — staff who remember your name and a level of attention that matches the hotel's billing as the top-rated property on the Red Sea.

Yoga happens twice a day on a covered terrace just steps from the water. The morning session is an active 90-minute Vinyasa flow; the afternoon session is a quieter hour of Yin. Lizi Joubert leads both and will modify or offer alternatives for each pose, so you can join even if you have never done yoga. In November 2026 Lizi teaches; the teacher for the 2027 dates is still to be announced. Laura Bianchini is also on site for the whole week, handling logistics.

The daily rhythm is deliberately loose. You practise, you eat a long buffet breakfast/brunch, and then the middle of the day — roughly 11am to 4pm — is yours. That's when people swim, snorkel, take a thalasso circuit at the Cascades Spa (voted the best spa in Egypt), play tennis or squash, or sit on the private beach with a book. A group dinner is planned each evening at one of Soma Bay's restaurants, but it's optional.

Excursions are arranged on site. The most popular is a full-day trip to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, with several other ancient Egyptian sites within reach. Closer to the hotel there's a well-equipped dive centre on a house reef packed with marine life, plus kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing and boat trips. The golf course at Soma Bay has been ranked the best in the world outside Europe.

What sets this apart from a standard beach-and-yoga week is the combination of two daily classes with genuine five-star surroundings and no rules about food or schedule. You're not locked into a set menu or a fixed itinerary — meals are pay-as-you-go at a range of restaurants, and days can be as active or as lazy as you like. The resort itself sits inside a gated compound with its own 24-hour security, which guests frequently mention as a plus for solo travellers.

Flights go into Hurghada International Airport, 45 minutes from the hotel. Direct flights run from several European cities, including EasyJet from London Gatwick. Private car transfers and visas on arrival can both be arranged for you; arrive on the first day in time for a group dinner, and leave on the last day after the morning class.
