Remote Work Retreat in the Laurentians: Off-Grid Cabins, Lakes and Forest Trails at Lièvre Rouge

Laurentians · 3 days

The day has a simple shape. You wake in an off-grid cabin or yurt surrounded by forest, take a short walk on the trails with a coffee, and settle into the Guest Lodge for the working day. Wi-Fi runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch is the break: paddle on the lake, then back to the laptop if you need to. After 5 p.m. the connection is off and the property is yours — campfires, forest hikes, stargazing, or reading by the woodstove in your cabin.

The Remote Work Package covers Guest Lodge access during work hours at no extra charge when you book three nights or more between Sunday and Thursday. That is the whole offer: a desk with reliable internet, a bed in the woods, and 275 acres to move around in when you are not working.

The property makes a point of the research behind it. It cites Frontiers in Psychology on 20 minutes in a natural environment lowering cortisol, a University of Illinois finding that nature breaks can improve concentration by up to 50%, and Stanford research on walking outdoors stimulating creative thinking. Take those as the operator's framing rather than something you will be measured on.

What sets Lièvre Rouge apart from a city coworking space is the setting itself: lakes, trails, a traditional sugar shack, and cabins that are deliberately off-grid. You are 2.5 hours from Montreal or Ottawa, which is close enough for a Sunday-to-Thursday block and far enough that the city noise is gone.

Small teams can book the corporate version instead, with tailor-made programmes built around strategic meetings in a calm setting and outdoor team-building activities. The Sous-Bois Café-Buvette is on site, and the Souche Nature Spa opens in November.
