Home › Retreats › Return to You: Women's Movement and Nature Retreat in Maine
United States · 3 days
The retreat is held at Nurture Through Nature, a 33-acre eco-retreat centre on the lower slopes of Pleasant Mountain in western Maine. The land has private forest and trails, a mountain brook, granite outcrops where wild blueberries grow in summer, and a Medicine Wheel at the top with long views into the White Mountain National Forest. Surrounding the property is extensive woodland and Nature Conservancy land.
Friday starts with check-in at 3pm, an Empowered Movement practice, and a connection circle to bring the group together. Saturday is the fullest day: a guided heart journey plus time in the wood-fired sauna. Sunday wraps up with a guided Journey Dance Experience before noon checkout. Yoga and meditation are built into the movement practices rather than run as standalone sessions.
Accommodation is either a shared eco-cabin or a yurt. Cabins are solar powered with electricity available, and each attendee gets their own bed in a twin or queen size, with the option to share a queen with a friend or request a cabin with a group. The two yurts sit on the mountainside a short walk from the parking lot and are completely unplugged, lit by candles, oil lamps and battery-operated lanterns, and kept warm by wood stoves. They have tables, chairs and other necessities, and each attendee has their own bed unless they choose to share a queen with a friend. Groups of friends can request a yurt together.
Meals are farm-to-table, organic and vegetarian: five meals across the weekend plus snacks and refreshments. The retreat is limited to 12 women, which keeps the group small enough that the connection circle and shared meals stay conversational rather than formal. There is open time built into the schedule to read, explore the trails, or simply rest.
The retreat is run by Kristy, who leads the movement practices, heart journey and Journey Dance Experience. One past guest, Ashley, described Kristy as having a gift for creating space where women can be uniquely themselves and safely explore what they carry day to day, and said the retreat gave her what she needed to listen to her inner voice and reconnect with her body.
