Silence, Nature & Meditation Retreat in Northern Germany

Silence, Nature & Meditation Retreat in Northern Germany

Bavaria · 6 days · From USD 699

The retreat takes place at Maria's property in Hoisdorf, a small village in Schleswig-Holstein, about an hour from Hamburg. The house is set within a large, carefully tended garden that guests often describe as a paradise. The atmosphere is home-like rather than institutional, and Maria is known for her warm hospitality and excellent cooking.

Days are unstructured by design. A typical day might start with a guided meditation session, followed by a slow breakfast. The rest of the day is yours—you can walk in the nearby forests, sit in the garden with a book, or take a nap. Some guests use the time for journaling; others simply do nothing, which is harder than it sounds for people used to being busy. In the evening, there may be another meditation or a quiet gathering, but the schedule is flexible and adapted to the group's needs.

This retreat is particularly well suited to people dealing with burnout, stress, or creative blocks. The silence and lack of obligation often allow people to reconnect with what they actually think and feel, away from the constant input of work and screens. Some guests report achieving deep meditative states, while others just enjoy the rare luxury of doing very little. Both outcomes are considered valid here.

Maria is an experienced meditation teacher who provides individual guidance, though most of the retreat is self-directed. Unlike larger, more structured retreats, this one doesn't follow a fixed curriculum. You're not required to attend every session, and you're never pushed to participate in anything that feels uncomfortable. The emphasis is on you having the time and space you need, with support available when you ask for it.

Guests stay in the main house or a separate cottage, with private rooms available. The property is off the main road, so it's very quiet at night. There's no TV or constant Wi-Fi noise (though Wi-Fi is available if needed). The focus is on simplicity and comfort—no luxury spa, no fancy amenities, just a clean, comfortable bed and a peaceful environment.
