Japan · 5 days · From USD 1399
The retreat takes place at Le Lotus Bleu, a beautifully preserved 19th-century wooden merchant house in the village of Shiraho on Ishigaki Island. The villa has five guest rooms, each with its own bathroom, set around serene gardens and wooden decks. It's a short drive from Ishigaki Airport but feels far removed from any kind of rush—a quiet, traditional space that suits the nature of the retreat.
Each day follows a rhythm that balances practice and rest. Mornings start with yoga and pranayama, led by Marta, followed by a hearty vegetarian breakfast. Mid-mornings might hold a meditation session or a walk. Afternoons often include sound therapy with Tibetan bowls, Reiki, or EFT tapping—the retreat's signature energy-balancing practices. Evenings wind down with Yoga Nidra, deep relaxation, and time to sit with the silence that begins after the first night's dinner and doesn't lift until the final brunch.
What makes this retreat different from a standard yoga holiday is the silence itself and the attention paid to mental health. Marta brings in tools for managing stress and anxiety—EFT tapping, guided meditations, mindfulness exercises—that you can take home and keep using. The group is small, between five and ten people, so there's plenty of space for personal attention.
The island is part of the experience. Between sessions, you can hike, swim, or try stand-up paddleboarding. There are sacred sites nearby and a strong sense of connection to nature. One guest described it as feeling like her nervous system went on holiday. Another noted that he stayed silent for the whole five days and called it a quiet victory. The food, cooked by Marta's husband Javier, gets consistent praise—hot, mostly vegetarian, locally sourced, and mindful of dietary needs.
By the end, guests report feeling more relaxed than they have in years, with a clearer sense of direction and a toolkit of practices to keep the calm going. As one reviewer put it: 'My body felt more relaxed than ever, my mind became more focused.'
