Koh Phangan · 4 days · From USD 144
Return to Presence is an immersive four-day experience on Koh Phangan, Thailand, designed for conscious travelers who want to slow down and experience the island more deeply. The retreat unfolds organically rather than sticking to a rigid timetable, shaped by the people who join, the rhythm of island life, and what's happening in the local conscious community that week. It's a flexible container that balances daily practice with time for rest and exploration.
The week is anchored by three core elements. First, the Blessings space—a peaceful, intimate yoga-focused hostel where you're supported with daily embodied movement, nourishing vegan meals, and genuine connection within a small group. Second, the island experience: you're gently introduced to Koh Phangan's vibrant conscious culture through curated events like ecstatic dance, nature excursions, or special gatherings that pop up during your stay. Third, time for yourself—space to rest, journal, explore on your own, or simply enjoy quiet moments by the ocean.
Daily life follows a simple rhythm. Mornings begin with a yoga session led by Markus, the resident teacher and co-creator of Blessings. Afternoons are largely free for rest, reflection, or independent exploration. Evenings might include a second yoga practice, a sound healing session, or a community meal. One day is dedicated to a curated island trip, and another may fold in a local event like ecstatic dance or a cacao ceremony, depending on availability and season.
Unlike a traditional retreat where you're isolated in a bubble, this one invites the island in. You might find yourself dancing with locals one evening or sharing a meal at a beachfront vegan restaurant the next. The trade-off is that the experience is less predictable—each retreat is genuinely unique. But that's the point: you're stepping out of constant doing and into a different rhythm, letting the island and the group shape the journey.
Markus's teaching style emphasizes presence and embodied awareness over performance or advanced postures. He focuses on gentle movement, somatic practices, breath, and reflection, creating spaces where softness, vulnerability, and authenticity are welcome. His approach is about pausing and sensing what's really there, not about pushing your physical limits. It’s a yoga retreat for those who want to reconnect with their body and emotions, not for those seeking a hard physical challenge.
